Have you ever wanted to create multiple accounts on social media platforms but you didn’t have many email id’s to sign up with? Maybe You want to create multiple accounts on a social media platform but you want to use a single inbox to consolidate all your emails and communications? If you are this👆 person then this is the blog post for you.
This blog post is categorized “SUPER POWERED INFORMATION” and was first shared to my pen pals who subscribed to my email newsletter, a year back.
(Best info is always shared first on email, so subscribe 😋)
Here is the trick. You might not already know this but the following email ID’s are actually the same and any message sent to any of these emails end up in the same inbox. (This trick only works on Gmail so don’t try this with Yahoo or Microsoft emails.)
Surprised? Here’s why! Because Google has certain rules about the structure of their emails.
Here are a few important ones with regard to this post.
- Gmail ignores dots (.) in their emails. Therefore email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org are the same email ID in Google’s eyes.
- Google ignores everything after the plus (+) sign in their emails. That is it only considers the elements before the + sign to identify the email. Thus email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org is the same email ID to Google.
- This means that Gmail users have an infinite number of email id’s that they can use. 😱
That is amazing!
